Landis Homes is intensifying its commitment to provide a highly supportive environment for individuals living with memory loss. This initiative began with all team members receiving training in Positive Approach to Care (PAC), a program that teaches methods to interact with and care for those with dementia. It is endorsed by nationally recognized expert Teepa Snow. The next phase is to create a new role to oversee this work across all care levels within the organization.

Stephanie “Teffie” Landmann has been named as the inaugural Director of Dementia Friendly Experience. A Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant and certified PAC trainer, Teffie has been teaching PAC learners since 2018. Her expertise in mentoring individuals and organizations on best practices for supporting those with memory loss has made her a sought-after speaker at healthcare associations and medical conferences. Prior to this, she held significant management positions in various rehabilitation roles, including Director of Rehabilitation overseeing multiple facilities.

Teffie holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology, with a specialization in Microbiology, from the University of Akron. She also earned an Associate Degree in Applied Science as a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant/Licensed (COTA/L) from Cape Fear Community College in Wilmington, NC.

Evon Bergey, Vice President of Operations/COO at Landis Communities, expressed enthusiasm about Teffie’s appointment. “Her extensive experience and knowledge, particularly as the Certification Programs Director for Positive Approach to Care, will be invaluable in enhancing our memory care initiative. Her strategic approach to business planning, problem-solving, and ability to improve resident and client experiences through effective education, program development, and policy creation will significantly contribute to our journey towards becoming a dementia friendly community.”

Teffie is equally excited about her new role, stating, “I am eager to join the team and contribute to an already exceptional community. It’s an honor to be part of the initiative to enhance the dementia friendly experience throughout Landis Communities. I am committed to serving with curiosity, empowerment, and compassion to foster relationships and create a dementia friendly environment for all.”
