Gifts to Impact Residents and Clients in the Future
Naming Landis Communities as a Beneficiary
You can name Landis Communities as a beneficiary of your will, life insurance, or an IRA. This is an easy way to make a donation of any size.
Charitable Gift Annuities
A charitable gift annuity (CGA) is a unique gift that provides a lifetime of fixed annuity payments, tax benefits, and a gift to Landis Homes. Annuity rates vary by age and a $10,000 minimum is required. As of January 1, 2023, rates for CGAs have increased 0.3-0.7% based on the age of the annuitant. (This is another increase from the previous rate change on July 1, 2022.).
IRA Gifts
Recent legislation changes, referred to as the Secure Act 2.0, positively impact charitable giving. You can make a once-in-a-lifetime tax-free distribution from your IRA to support the mission of Landis Homes with the following restrictions:
- The maximum allowable distribution amount of $50,000 in 2023, although that is not limited to a single gift
- The income must be paid to the annuitant and/or their spouse
- Annuitants must be 70 ½ or older to take advantage of this opportunity
- All payments made to the recipients must be fully taxable (unlike traditional CGAs that include a tax-free portion)
- Payments must begin no later than one year from the date of funding, disqualifying deferred CGAs
RMD starting age is pushed back to age 73 for those turning 73 between 2023 and 2032.
