Our Philosophy Statements reflect the heart of Landis Communities and the values that guide our work each day. Across our organization, these statements help express who we are, what we stand for, and how we seek to serve with compassion, respect, and purpose. Rooted in our mission, vision, and guiding values, they offer a deeper understanding of our approach to honoring lives, supporting aging well, creating dementia friendly experiences, walking alongside individuals at the end of life, and thoughtfully engaging with new tools and technology.

Honoring Lives Philosophy

Person-centered care aims to give emphasis to resident choice in programs and services. “Choice” is not just a word but rather a guiding philosophy. Landis Homes supports the dignity, respect, self-determination, and purposeful living choices of residents.

End of Life Philosophy

Across the span of care, Landis Homes is committed to honoring lives.

Rooted in a Christian-Anabaptist community, we believe life is a gift from God. Death is a natural part of life; thus, we accept its inevitable arrival. As we serve older adults and their families in a Christ-like manner, we aim to relate in a culturally sensitive, trauma-informed way, respecting the range of spiritual beliefs, rituals, traditions, and practices.

Dementia Friendly Philosophy

Aligned with our faith-informed mission, we commit to enriching the lives of individuals living with memory loss at every stage of their journey through authentic connection, with a positive approach, and compassionate care. We walk side-by-side with those living with dementia, focusing on abilities and life-honoring activity that brings meaning and worth to every individual. We honor resident and family choices and support their full participation in a dementia-inclusive community.

Aging In Place Well Philosophy

Landis Communities is committed to walking alongside residents as they experience the joys and challenges of aging. Through our Honoring Lives Philosophy, we support dignity, respect, self-determination and purposeful living choices of residents. We are guided by our Values of Joy, Compassion, Integrity, Stewardship and Community as we seek to deliver individualized, respectful care.

We endeavor to balance autonomy with safety through open, honest communication with residents and their care partners. As increasing care is needed, we partner with residents to determine what will work best for each person and each unique situation. Aging is a journey that changes over time, meaning supports and care plans require adaption to address evolving needs.

Artificial Intelligence (AI) Philosophy

At Landis Communities, we believe technology is most meaningful when it supports people and strengthens relationships. Guided by our mission of Following God’s call to creatively serve the diverse needs and interests of older adults by developing opportunities and collaborative relationships, we view artificial intelligence as a tool that may assist our work when used thoughtfully and with care.

We embrace the use of AI in ways that reflect our guiding values of Joy, Compassion, Integrity, Stewardship, and Community. While AI may help improve efficiency, support team members, and enhance service, it does not replace human judgment, accountability, or connection. We commit to be discerning in our use of emerging technologies by protecting privacy, honoring dignity, and ensuring all AI‑supported work aligns with our mission, improves the quality of care and strengthens community.
